Water Resource Management
All IBWA bottlers

the sustainable management of water
Bottled water has the lowest
water use ratio of any packaged beverage.
Data from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) shows that of all the water used in the United States annually, bottled water production uses just 0.01%. Compared with other water users—like agriculture, public supply, and industrial use—that number is extremely small.
Bottled water also has the lowest water use ratio of any packaged beverage. To create 1 liter (approximately 34 ounces) of finished bottled water product for consumption, bottled water bottlers only use (on average) 1.39 liters of water (and that includes the 1 liter of water that you drink) and 0.21 mega joules of energy.
